Train your brain to win

Train your brain to win

Hey!

I hope you've had a great week, did any of last weeks truths & realities hit home? Did you do anything about it? I know I am guilty of some of them and annoyingly that's the stuff we remember and dwell on and procrastinate over, mulling things over in our head but often forgetting all the positive and good stuff that happens. The reality is we’re absolute professionals at giving ourselves a hard time.

Didn’t tick off every box on the to-do list? Useless.

Missed a workout? Hopeless.

Someone left a three-star review instead of five?

Meanwhile, 100 glowing comments, kind words, compliments, and little wins drift off into oblivion like socks in a tumble dryer. Forgotten. Unappreciated. Ignored.

Sound familiar?

It’s not just you—it’s human nature. We’re wired to spot the negative. It’s a leftover survival mechanism from when we had to avoid sabre-toothed tigers and the occasional neighbour who fancied clubbing us over the head for our berries.

But here’s the good news: that wiring? It’s not permanent. You can retrain your brain. Like muscles in the gym, your mindset gets stronger with deliberate, consistent practice.

Start small. Start now.

3 Quick Tips to Train Your Brain to Spot the Wins

1. Daily Win Log (Yes, even on terrible days)
At the end of each day, write down one win. Just one. Maybe you answered that email you’ve been ignoring for two weeks. Maybe you didn’t launch your laptop out the window. Win. Write it down.

2. The Compliment Collector
Start keeping a note of positive feedback—reviews, messages, throwaway compliments from friends. Screenshots, scribbles, whatever works. Read them back when your brain decides to go all "I'm a failure" on you.

3. Set a Tiny Challenge
Pick a micro-goal each morning. Something easily winnable. “Drink more water.” “Take a five-minute walk.” “Reply to that one annoying message.” Nail it. Pat yourself on the back. Job done.

We get strong in the gym by overloading the muscles, slowly, consistently. The same works for your mind. Overload it with small wins and the occasional smug smile. Build the habit. Train your thoughts.

You are, after all, stuck with yourself for life. Might as well start being a bit kinder to the one person who’s been there through it all: you.

Chin up. Shoulders back. Hands on hips - power up! and go and win something small today.

Have a winning day today

P.S. The FlightFit app isn’t just about burpees and broccoli. It’s got built-in habit tracking and journalling so you can actually see your wins (instead of pretending you don’t have any).

If you fancy some accountability, proper training, and nutrition guidance – or just someone to tell you to calm down and keep going – drop me a message. I’ll help you figure out which programme fits.

And yes, sending that message can count as your first win of the day. Click on the button below to contact me or head on to the socials as that's where I'm hiding out most of the time when I'm not swinging around a pole!
